Torq In Your Sleep – 6 Hours Mixed Pairs – Jamie and Grace Ward

Father and daughter off road duo Jamie and Grace Ward travelled to Hampshire to take part in this epic MTB event

Jamie reports “This year we decided to enter the mixed pair 6 hours endurance race at Minley Manor, a course we have both raced on recently and done well on, we were up against some good adult teams with Grace being one of the youngest riders at the event having had special permission to race from the organizers”

“It was fantastic sunny conditions and the course was running fast, races here tend not be over technical but they are twisty and rooty with lots of punchy climbs, it was a typical full gas first lap and I got us off to a great start coming in second, most teams send their fastest rider out first which is usually the bloke then hand over to the fast women, unfortunately Grace was really up against it from the start having to chase the Torq Elite rider Elish Gilbert and also was hunted down by the experienced Jo Munden of Just Pedal a previous winner of this event over the years.

After 3 laps it was clear we would just have to keep the pressure on and consolidate 3rd, we managed 4 laps each over the six hours and and managed to secure our podium position, a great first time effort as team Ward!”
