SWCX Round 7

23 Members from Mid Devon cycling club ventured to Newham in Plymouth for the seventh round out of eight of the South West Cyclocross League. The course had undergone some notable enhancements for this season’s event, and with rain expected at lunchtime, it promised to transform from a dry course into a wet and muddy spectacle for the final three races. With several positions still up for grabs in the series, there were remarkable performances and results that set the stage for the upcoming round, which would also serve as the South West Region Championships.

Among the standout achievements, Fredrik Simcock secured his fifth victory in the Under 10 category, while Ben Ward triumphed for the second time this season in the Under 12 race. Lauren Fox continued her unbeaten streak in the SWCX league, maintaining her dominance over all seven rounds. Meanwhile, Eva Fox celebrated her inaugural campaign win in the Under 16 division. Catherine Kilburn, competing in the V50w category, extended her impressive streak of six consecutive wins in the series.

Current European champion Robin Delve showcased his prowess, triumphing over his closest competitor by a margin of over five minutes. Delve utilized this race as part of his preparations for the upcoming worlds cyclocross event in Hamburg.
