Mid Devon Crushes the Gralloch Gravel Challenge, Along with SW Great TT and MTB xc Results

The Mid Devon cycling club made a triumphant showing at the UCI Gralloch Gravel World Series race in the breath-taking Galloway Forest Park, Scotland. This gruelling one-day event is known for its stunning scenery and challenging terrain.

Many Mid Devon riders braved the long journey to compete, and their efforts were rewarded. The top 25% in each age group secured coveted qualifying spots for the World Championships in October.

The club’s results were outstanding, with hundreds of entries across various age groups. Cathy Cook led the charge with an impressive 11th place finish, followed closely by Martin Smith (14th), Shaun Davey (20th), and Jason Kettle (23rd). Ian Gaffney (28th) and Andrew Parker (89th) Dave Cook (108th) and also put in strong performances.

James Williams were on track for a top-ten finish when misfortune struck. James suffered a puncture, dashing his hopes for a podium finish but still managing a commendable 126th place.

Overall, the Mid Devon club demonstrated exceptional grit and determination at the Gralloch. Their success is a testament to their dedication and training, and they now have several members with a shot at the World Championship title along with club mate Robin Delve who already qualified Last weekend when he raced in Germany coming 4th in his age group.

Thrilling Time Trial Races Down the S4/10 Dean Prior!

Cyclists pushed their limits at the first Mid Devon open Time Trial of the year on the thrilling S4/10 route. The event saw a fantastic turnout of riders battling for personal bests and podium finishes from riders across the region. Cornish rider Steve Lampier stole the show with a blazing time of 19 minutes and 23 seconds, claiming the title of Fastest Rider and Mid Devon’s Maria Weymouth, securing the Fastest Woman title with a time of 25 minutes flat. The competition was fierce across all categories. Mid Devon’s Donald Brooks secured second place for the men, clocking in at 19:53 respectively. The event wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of numerous volunteers. Organizers extend a huge thank you to all the timekeepers, marshals, and everyone who contributed to a smooth and successful race. South West MTB XC Series held at Ashcombe.

Sunny skies and a challenging course greeted riders at Round 2 of the South West MTB XC Series held at Ashcombe. Mid Devon CC enjoyed a strong youth turnout, with several riders achieving podium finishes. Lauren Fox took second place in the Under 14 category, while Matt Holmes and James Allen secured third place finishes in the Under 12 and Under 16 categories, respectively.  Henry Cadwallader rounded out Mid Devon’s success with a first-place finish in the Under 16 category  Laura Dix coming 2nd
