MDCC Race Team – Perky takes teams first win at CCC 10 TT
Perky kicked of MDCC’s Race Teams 2016 campaign in good style taking a win in the season opening City Cycle Courier RT’s 10 mile time trial, held on the A38 at Ivybridge. In wet and windy conditions he started last, clocking 22 minutes dead to take the win from Minehead’s Graham Collins by 13 seconds, with the next rider a full 40 seconds behind. The winning margin would have been slightly higher had he not been stopped by traffic police in the finishing straight!
Just minutes before he crossed the line, a car travelling in the same direction as the riders, clipped a bank alongside the road, overturning onto its roof and sliding to a halt just 200yds after the finish line. The car had just overtaken one of the riders, who was left shaken by the incident. Police were quickly on the scene directing traffic, but the last few riders were hampered by the traffic backlog.
