Matt Langworthy

Club 10 Report 23 April 15

The first club 10, held on a cool but fairly still evening saw a record 48 riders sign up including several from neighbouring clubs.

MDCCs, James Tribble, off with Number 1 set the pace early on. His 24.14 was good enough for an eventual 6th place and remained the best time for over 20 minutes before  J Johnson, off number 25 managed to break through the 25mph barrier with 23.45. This remained the best time for less than 4 minutes before top local duathlete and eventual runner up James Stewart notched up a very rapid 23.11. However ‘team Mid Devon’ still had an ace up its sleeve in the shape of our turbo-charged top junior Matt Langworthy, who became the first rider to break 22 minutes on this course with his 21:57. His father Guy, was less fortunate and had a minute penalty added to his time for missing the start. Lee Sanderson completed the podium with 23:36, one of only 4 riders to average over 25mph.

The second race in the series is on the more ‘Sporting’ Dartington course on Thursday 7th May before we return to Kingsteignton on Thursday 21st May.

Thanks to Stewart  & Ken for organising and for Phil, Tim & Craig for timekeeping and marshalling duties.
